A family living in a North Florida subdivision gets a taste of the country life they're yearning for when they decide to start keeping chickens.
Kelli Norstrem
Kelli grew up in small town Minnesota and is a second-generation forester. She spent her childhood summers helping her mom in the garden and her dad with his small Christmas tree farm. They spent weekends camping, and the fall canning, freezing fruits and vegetables, and hunting. Kelli works for Rethink:Rural's parent company, Rayonier Inc., in northern Florida and lives with her husband and three children in a small subdivision on the edge of town. "My husband and I want the country lifestyle for our three children," she says. "We are taking baby steps to get there and currently have apple trees, blueberry bushes, a small vegetable garden and chickens."
